Carla Juarez is the Communications and Marketing Manager at IEM where she oversees corporate communications, marketing, and outreach for the company. In this role, Carla also manages IEM communications and outreach deliveries for COVID-19 recovery programs, including a joint city-county Emergency Rental Assistance Program and two state and territory Homeowner Assistance Fund programs to support housing stability for homeowners and tenants financially impacted by the pandemic.
Carla began her career in emergency management as the AmeriCorps for the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross where she supported disaster services, public education, and outreach across the Florida Big Bend. After completing her year of service, she joined the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) as their Social Media and Outreach Coordinator where she managed the agency’s social media presence, public education, and statewide outreach. Carla then joined the American Red Cross of Greater Miami and the Keys to serve as their Disaster Program Specialist coordinating home fire disaster response, mass care coordination, and outreach. Carla returned to FDEM as a Private Sector and Academic Liaison within their External Affairs Unit where she served in ESF 14 (Public Information) during the response to Hurricanes Hermine, Matthew, Irma, Maria, and Nate. She also briefly served as the Alternate Emergency Coordinating Officer in ESF 18 (Business, Industry and Economic Stabilization) and helped to identify and strengthen statewide public-private partnerships.
Carla has a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Political Science and a graduate certificate in Emergency Management and Homeland Security from Florida State University. Carla is a graduate of the National Emergency Management Advanced Academy and currently serves as the Annual Meeting Chair of the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association.
